National Provider Appreciation Day® was started in 1996 by a group of volunteers in New Jersey who saw the need to recognize the efforts of providers who care for children.

Although Provider Appreciation Day® is recognized every year in May on the Friday before Mother’s Day, it is important that we show our appreciation year-round for early educators. We know that quality early care and education provides a solid foundation for children’s ongoing success, and research indicates that there is a direct link between provider training and quality of care. To achieve and sustain high quality, new child care providers must receive ongoing training and support.

Families First received additional funding from the Otto Bremer Trust to offer another cohort of the Child Care Consultation Program. We are currently seeking participants. To be eligible for participation, individuals must be in the process of obtaining their family child care license or newly licensed within the past six months. The Child Care Consultation Program provides resources, training, individualized coaching, technical assistance, and grant dollars in the following counties: Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona.
