Looking For Help Paying For Preschool

Paying for preschool can be difficult.  Early learning assistance programs can help make quality preschool affordable for families with low incomes.

Early Learning Scholarships

Early Learning Scholarship funds are paid to an early childhood program chosen by the family. Scholarships awarded to income-eligible families may be used in any 3 or 4 star rated early childhood program participating in the Parent Aware Quality Rating and Improvement System including Head Start, school district pre-kindergarten, preschool programs, licensed child care centers and family child care providers.

Head Start

Head Start is a free child and family development program that focuses on quality comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to 5 years old, and their families.  The Head Start approach to service includes: education, nutrition, parent engagement, social services, health, and mental health.  Head Start prepares children and their families for life-long learning.

School Readiness

The School Readiness program is a continuum of services for children, 3 years old to kindergarten enrollment, and their families.  Children receive a scholarship to attend an early childhood program that enables them to enter school with the skills and behavior needed for them to progress and flourish.  Parent involvement and family events are also important parts of the program.
